It’s 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland, and quirky, plus-sized, teenage Tracy Turnblad has one dream: to dance on The Corny Collins Show. When she gets put in detention with the African-American students in the school, they teach her some of their dance moves, and her new found groove wins her a spot on Corny’s show. Overnight, Tracy transforms from a nobody into a star and uses her newfound influence to advocate for racial integration on the television show. You’ll be tapping your feet to the beat as Tracy and friends triumph over high school bullies, racism and enemies everywhere of big girls with big hair.

Renata has had a passion for performing since she was little, along with her sister. She has been trained in ballet, jazz, dance theater, and hip hop since she was 10 years old. She was recently featured in shows such as Performance Riverside’s Hairspray as well as Center Stage Fontana’s Hairspray. Along with being on stage, Renata has also been moving in to choreographing after teaching dance for the past few years. Choreographing A Christmas Carol and Young Frankenstein for community theater company Temecula Valley Players most recent season. Renata is ready and excited to be rejoining her sister on stage in their favorite roles side by side. She wants to thank the creative team, cast and crew for all of their hard work and her family and friends for their love and support.

Some works she has appeared in are The Lion King Jr. as Nala, Hairspray Jr. as Little Inez, Little Shop of Horrors as Crystal and Dorothy in The Wiz. Kiara has loved working with CYT San Diego, San Diego Junior Theater and J-Company. She enjoys dancing ballet, ballroom, jazz and modeling when she is not performing on stage.
