You Give. We Give.

About

As a local nonprofit 501(c)3 musical theatre organization, in addition to entertaining, we believe our musical productions can and should do more. In 2015, San Diego Musical Theatre launched the “You Give. We Give.” campaign to prove that musical theatre connects us and our audiences to bigger issues within our community. Each season the “You Give. We Give” campaign raises awareness and gives monetary support to other local non-profits by partnering each show with a related organization. Any donations collected at the theatre during the run of our shows go to help support the missions of both our YGWG partner and SDMT. We are proud that, since the inception of the YGWG campaign, we have given over $41,000 to some wonderful organizations.

Current Partner

For our current production of The Prom, SDMT is proud to be partnering with the San Diego LGBT Community Center. Since it’s simple origins as a single answering machine in a borrowed closet in 1971 to what is now one of the largest and most vibrant LGBTQ community centers in the nation, The Center is continually committed to its twin goals of promoting LGBTQ health/wellness and human rights. They serve not just the LGBTQ+ community, but also work to protect the rights of both immigrant and HIV individuals. The Center is a leader in solving San Diego’s housing crisis, especially as it affects our LGBTQ community, through over a handful of incredible initiatives. By providing behavioral health services, food resources, support groups, medical testing, crisis support, and more, The Center protects some of the most marginalized communities and ultimately works to build a better San Diego. We are honored to partner with such an incredible organization as the San Diego LGBT Center during the run of our production of The Prom!
